The Mayor supervises the improvement actions that are being executed in the accesses to the Calvario campus, which have a regional investment of 510,631.62 euros, and which include improvements in gardening, irrigation, street furniture and sports facilities.
The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has supervised this morning the work of replacing the ornamental stone column that was demolished in an incident several weeks ago in Second Fall Street, in the area of ​​access to the Calvary campus.
It is a Tuscan stone column of smooth shaft, which was fractured in half of its length due to the accidental impact of a vehicle that performed maneuvers, and that even had several breaks caused by the blow on its top and bottom , with loss of material.
The First Edil explained that in order to execute the union and correct the damage, an internal seam was made with 14 mm carbon fiber rod, with an anchor of 25 cm on both sides received with epoxy mortar and resin.
Subsequently, the existing cracks have been decomposed, as well as the gaps in the material, with restoration silica mortar.
A general cleaning of the column with nebulized water has been carried out together with a protection and patina treatment executed with an oxybasan binder and mineral pigments.
The placement has been materialized with carbon fiber rod, once the joint has been re-grouted with mortar and final treatment with patination.
Fulgencio Gil has indicated that this work is being done by the restoration monitor of the Department of Local Development, Antonio García Rico, with the collaboration of the Rapid Intervention Brigade.

The Mayor has anticipated that from the Department of Local Development is going to undertake a series of gardening jobs that we plan to develop in the Calvary campus, specifically by the employment and training programs.
These tasks will include the cleaning and clearing of Mount Calvario and its squares, replenishment of shrubs (rosemary, lavender, juniper ...), pruning shrubs Calvary environment, placement of climbing plants to avoid the visual impact of the mesh steel placed to prevent landslides, as well as expansion and improvement of the irrigation system for new plantations.
Fulgencio Gil has said that these tasks in the Calvary precinct, reference of the cultural heritage and the collective imagination of our municipality, are added to the works to improve the access to the Calvary campus, which are underway thanks to the financial support of the Ministry of Development of the Autonomous Community of the Regional Government, which represent an investment of 510,631.62 euros.
This project includes, among other issues, the following:
Street lighting:
150 Ml underground pipeline for the installation of new public lighting in the Mount of Calvary.
Renovation of the 92 units. Luminaries around the Calvary with led.
Renovation of the lighting to the Mount of Calvary by installing 27 LED spotlights.
Irrigation installation:
renewal of the irrigation infrastructure by renovating the two main heads that consist of: filtering equipment, 500 liter tank, fertilizer equipment, pressure group and programmer and placement of 1ud concrete cabinet to house the electrovalves of the irrigation sectors, In addition, 2,000 linear meters of pipes of different diameters for irrigation canalization.
Gardening: 1,300 pcs.
of plants and shrubs, as well as palm trees, olive trees and almeces.
Sports area and gazebo:
Paving of 900 m2 in the gazebo area by cobblestone aged in 3 different formats and colors.
Installation of 4 biosaludable games.
Placement of 120 m2 of rubber as pavement of the playground.
Realization of two petanque courts.
New metal sports track fencing, in which the entire pavement and its infrastructure have been renewed (two new goals and baskets).
Second Fall Street: Renovation of all basic infrastructure, covering sanitation, supply, low voltage, telephony, street lighting and paving (900 m2).
Plaza del Humilladero: Execution of pergola, integral renovation of albero and painting of banks.
Viewpoint: placement of porticos in the ascent to the viewpoint, renovation of railing and placement of information panel of the landscape.
It should be noted that in recent years there have been other works to improve the historical environment of Calvary in Lorca, with a regional investment of 490,000 euros, and has made the comprehensive renovation of the area, including the refurbishment of 14 neighborhood streets, that has had a budget of 2.7 million.
