The Councilor for Sports of the City of Lorca, Juan Miguel Bayonas, with Juan Bastida, representative of the local Triathlon Club, have presented the I Midway Duathlon Lorca, a test that will take place on March 31 and will be eligible for the Regional Duathlon League, at the same time as the Duathlon Absolute Regional Championship.
There will also be a Short Duathlon that will be scoring for the regional megaliga.
The mayor of Sports has announced that "we are proud to launch this ambitious competition that will allow us to enjoy a demanding modality such as the duathlon in an incomparable setting for sports: the municipality of Lorca. athletes in the Lorca districts that surround the Guadalentín River until reaching the Pantano de Puentes, a space of immense social and cultural value, while the race will take place in the incomparable Lorca historical center ".
The start, finish and transitions of the race will be in the La Merced parking lot next to the Visitors Center.
The tour will take place in a circuit closed to traffic;
the race on foot will pass through the streets and old town of Lorca while the bike sector will lead the participants on the C-15 road towards the Pantano de Puentes, crossing the dam and returning by the RM-701 towards the Counselor and Lorca.
Each turn has a distance of 31 km., So the participants in the Half Distance will give two laps.
Being a test "without drafting", the duathletes will not be able to go to wheel in the cycling sector.
As for the Mid Distance Duathlon, which will be the absolute Regional Championship, the distances to cover will be 14 kms.

There will be trophies for the first three classified in each category, also important cash prizes, as well as recognitions for the team with the greatest participation and the one with the greatest female presence.

The price of registration will be 58 euros for the Half Distance test and 28 euros for the Short Duathlon for federated people;
Registration for non-federated will have an increase of 10 euros.
