The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, and the Minister of Culture and Tourism of the Autonomous Region of Murcia, Miriam Guardiola, visited this morning the restored church of San Pedro, which recovers this space of medieval layout in the high of the city on the hillside of the castle and in which a total of 550,000 euros has been invested for its rehabilitation.

The Mayor of Lorca has indicated that "the rehabilitation project has consisted in the recovery of the primitive architectural space with the restoration of the geometry of the lost vaults and the ashlars of the ribs of the entrance body to the temple, as well as the consolidation of the gothic portal, the tower, the cornices and the decorative elements ".

Fulgencio Gil has detailed that "light materials have been placed on the new interior drawing the contours of the space through the edges of the vaults and the arches that once were made of stone." In addition, they return to the building the buttresses where the originals were , and hollows of natural lighting instead of windows that have already disappeared. "A 40-square-meter photographic mural reproduces the original altarpiece".

The temple of San Pedro, of the XV century and desacralizado for the cult by its situation of ruin, has vault and baroque cover and ogival rib in the presbytery.
