The Mayor demands the immediate convocation of the next meeting of the Mixed Commission (01/02/2019)

Fulgencio Gil warns that the next meeting has to approve the resignation of the Government of Spain to his part of the interests of the aid, to extend the aids to the rent, to extend the term of reconstruction and to prolong the existence of the own Commission, "if these subjects not treated would be a sterile meeting. "

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has demanded the celebration "as soon as possible" of the meeting that the Mixed Commission has to maintain for the matters related to the recovery of the city after the damages caused by the earthquakes of the year 2011. It is about a joint body of the 3 administrations that decides and approves aid to the victims and multiple issues related to the reconstruction process.

The First Edil has been annoyed at the fact that this meeting has not already been held, as is our interest, and that, although the Ministry of Development has raised several dates, now from the government delegation seems be that delay the meeting at least until next February 12.

I believe that those affected by earthquakes do not deserve to continue postponing dates and that this meeting must be carried out as soon as possible.

The reconstruction of Lorca does not accept delays: we are already delaying to convene the meeting of the Mixed Commission.

Fulgencio Gil has revealed that "I know that the Regional Government, through the Ministry of Development, has already taken action on the matter and has proposed to the government delegation several options in recent days. days of 5, 7 or 8 February, and now we have information that indicates that it could not be done before February 12. Given these events, as Mayor of Lorca I demand what my people need, and that is to close the date immediately. I do not care about the date as long as it's next, I'm available any day of the week, including Saturdays and Sundays, 24 hours, but I do not consider normal or acceptable that the delegation delays this meeting again. "

The Mayor explained that, in addition to being convened and dated already, the next meeting of the Mixed Commission must include as essential points to contribute to the process of reconstruction and recovery of the city decision-making on priority issues of special relevance, as is the case of:

Final approval of the third extension of the rental subsidies, something that Lorca are waiting for, especially those affected by that tragedy, with great interest given its transcendental importance.

Agreement and definitive approval of the requested extension of the maximum period foreseen for the execution of the works for the reconstruction of houses.

Reporting of the report requested by the CARM on the limitation period that should govern the public assistance process, following the line of what is stated by the legal services of the City Council.

Condemnation by the Government of Spain of its corresponding part of the interest that continues to claim on public aid to the victims.

An issue that constitutes a serious uncertainty and that has caused several embargoes to those affected.

Ratification of the Addendum to the agreement to enable the extension of the Mixed Commission itself.

The Mayor has stressed that if these points are not part of the agenda, this meeting would not be necessary, "because to greet and drink coffee we do not need to meet."

We have to deal with these points absolutely, because the chapter on the management of aid and reconstruction has to come to an end, and that is why the Mixed Commission has to take them into consideration and resolve them now.
