Ciudadanos Lorca requests that a metallic design be studied to replace the crystals of the catwalk Mayor Miguel Navarro (04/02/2019)

As Citizens exposed in the last full month of January in our motion, the urban furniture that makes up a city and can be destroyed, has been vandalized in recent months, and not come in time to renew everything that is destroy

A clear example is the walkway Mayor Miguel Navarro Molina.

The commonly known Manterola footbridge is the only one in Spain with a curved double floor, avant-garde monument of the 21st century, and it has been practically since its inauguration, object of constant vandalism.

Antonio Meca explains that "each replacement glass costs more than € 200, an expense that could be saved if these crystals were gradually replaced by metal lattices, which are not so easily breakable, much cheaper and more durable material."

For some time it had been the conviction that the author of this bridge, the road engineer Javier Manterola Armisén, like any other architect, for example, protected the design of his work without allowing changes or modifications.

But such is the degree of deterioration of this bridge that the City of Lorca has reached last September, an agreement with the director of the construction project to proceed with its improvement and modification.

In this regard, Meca proposes that "a model of lattices or metal rails is agreed upon, a material that is more durable over time, which can maintain the safety and aesthetics of this walkway".

This proposal was rejected in the last plenary session by PP and IU, an error that Ciudadanos wants to correct.
