The delegate councilor of the municipal cleaning company, Limusa, Juan Francisco Martínez, has informed that the Waste Management Center of Barranco Hondo has registered a new incidence after the detection in the late-night yesterday of two bales of narcotic substances, that forced the implementation of the usual protocol, stopping the activity in the area in which the packages were discovered and giving notice to the National Police Body in order to develop the corresponding actions.
Martínez Carrasco explained that it was the workers who perform their work in the primary triage cabin of the waste treatment plant who detected this eventuality, informing the Plant Manager of what happened.
At first, a suspicious material was detected under an envelope that responds to the usual characteristics of drug bales.
It was, in particular, at 18:11 h, in the area corresponding to the treatment line.
Later, around 18:40, another identical bale was discovered, also in the same area of ​​the landfill.
Both packages appeared in the course of the daily work of the plant, and they arrived there because some person had thrown them into a container of fraction rest, that is, those who usually serve in the streets of the cities.
The delegate councilor of Limusa has stated that the agents of the police station in Lorca belonging to the National Police Corps appeared at the facilities of Barranco Hondo at 7:06 p.m., and were accompanied by the Head of the Plant, Francisco Javier Martínez, with who traveled to the discovery area to monitor the status of the packages and their contents.
The workers of the municipal company, at the request of the agents, carried out a meticulous screening of the residues that were in the same zone of the discovered elements, a task in which they were used more than 90 minutes.
After completing the same, no more packages appeared, proceeding to continue with the ordinary work once the National Police withdrew both bales and congratulated the professionals of the company for their collaboration, quick response and predisposition on this matter.
Juan Francisco Martínez has indicated that the packages had a weight of approximately 30 kilos each, which, according to the indications of the police authorities, puts its price on the market at around 100,000 euros.

Regarding its specific origin, it is very difficult to find out, since the urban solid waste materials that are treated in Barranco Hondo come from different municipalities of the Region.
The mayor of Limusa recalled that in recent months have been other incidents in the same plant, as was the discovery of two projectiles for military use, which forced the eviction of workers, according to the provisions of the protocol set for said eventualities.
In both cases the presence of the explosives specialists of the State security forces and bodies was required, which confirmed that they were unloaded.
