The Councilor of Family and Social Welfare of the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, has presented this morning the new programs focused on the elderly of our municipality that will be developed during this year.

It is a battery of 54 courses that includes a total of 835 seats between Memory Workshops (130), adapted Gymnastics (520), artistic Modalities (112) and New Technologies (72 places).

Fátima Mínguez has indicated that "we are talking about an offer that has been prepared by the municipal technicians based on the demand and proposals of the users themselves, following the line of work established in this council to start up in each of In fact, we trust that the participants in these workshops will enjoy the multiple options we offer, since they themselves are participating in the process of choice of courses ".

Mínguez wanted to highlight that "all these cycles are set in motion to achieve such important objectives as the prevention of dependence, promote personal autonomy and promote active aging among our seniors, with all the benefits that this implies for their health. that the biggest Lorca do not stay at home, that they have at their disposal the necessary resources to go out to enjoy these initiatives so varied and, therefore, so enriching. "

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare explained that "the schedule established for this course includes the completion of a total of 3,648 hours, which are distributed among 760 corresponding to initiatives of new technologies, 678 of artistic modalities (painting, crafts, dances, cutting and sewing, storytelling ...), as well as 680 related to improving memory and cognitive stimulation and 1,530 of gymnastics adapted to older people.These hours correspond to a global battery of 54 courses, one more than last year, of which 26 they are about health education, 10 about improving memory, 10 are related to artistic modalities and storytelling and 8 are related to new technologies ".

Mínguez added that "of these 30 workshops are taught in the urban area and 24 in districts being the theme that bases these courses contemplated in 3 areas:

Creative and artistic, constituting a space for meeting and training in artistic techniques aimed at maintaining personal autonomy and developing individual and / or group creativity: in addition to organizing exchanges, cultural visits ... and making creations known to the rest of generations and population in general.

It includes activities such as ballroom dancing, painting, cutting and making, crafts and storytelling.

New Technologies, in order to expand knowledge in information and communication technologies (ICTs) to apply them to daily, personal, family and social life according to our interests and needs.

It covers courses on internet, initiation and improvement and a creative classroom.

Health and well-being: the objectives of these courses are to promote personal autonomy and prevent dependency, maintain physical and mental abilities for as long as possible and improve the subjective perception of one's own health.

It aims to facilitate the practice of physical activity and the stimulation of cognitive abilities, self-care, physical, mental, emotional and social wellbeing and the acquisition of healthy habits.

It includes the realization of workshops of cognitive stimulation and gymnastics adapted to elderly people.
