Ciudadanos Lorca proposes to the Plenary a census of buildings and abandoned lots (22/02/2019)

Citizens will take to the next Plenary on the 27th a proposal to prepare a census of abandoned buildings and lots, including their ownership, the state they are in, their administrative situation and the number of infractions or urban sanctions that weigh on the same, "in order to prioritize and streamline the procedures that apply in the application of current legislation, subsidiary enforcement, or even expropriation if appropriate according to law," explained the spokesman of the orange municipal group, Antonio Meca .

The mayor added that "countless homes in our Historic District are in a state of abandonment and threatened with ruin, which adds that sometimes you can not locate their owners or the companies that own the properties have been declared insolvent or in bankrupt".

Citizens remember that more than 24,000 square meters of the Historic Center of Lorca are occupied by lots and houses in ruins, "and this census will expedite its reconstruction or adaptation, allowing to solve the problems detected, promote the values of the historic set and put in value the local heritage ".

"The problem lies in the very reality of the Historic District, where owners coexist in a precarious economic situation, elderly people and families with scarce resources.

In many cases, they are indivisible properties, and in others the owners are the banks and the houses do not have adequate conservation, to which the problem of the occupation of them is added sometimes, "Meca added.

For the councilman, "it is necessary to draw up a plan to save these buildings, starting with the development of an updated census of those who are abandoned and in deplorable conditions throughout our municipality, to be able to carry out the relevant actions."

As for the abandoned lots, "we have a problem with their state, since most are full of weeds, dirt, debris, loose animals ... And that in the middle of the urban area, since on numerous occasions the City Council has been urged to he will clean them and adapt them if they are his property, or else he will force the owners to act so that they stop being the focus of infections, dirt, slag heaps and shelter of animals ".
