Lorca has from today the largest and most modern fire station in the Region of Murcia.

It will directly serve more than 105,000 people and its area of influence is greater than 300,000 inhabitants, by supporting 12 more populations.

The counselor of the Presidency, Pedro Rivera, together with the mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, today inaugurated the new facilities, in which the Consortium for the Extinction of Fire and Rescue of the Region of Murcia (CEIS) has invested in its construction 1.1 million euros, plus another 200,000 euros in equipment.

To this is added the recent acquisition of two Light Urban Pump trucks and new intervention equipment.

Pedro Rivera said that "the regional government is committed to the safety of citizens, and one of the fundamental pillars to guarantee it is CEIS, which provides an essential service."

The new fire station of Lorca, which had to be replaced due to the damage suffered by the earthquakes in 2011, is one of the most modern and best equipped in Spain, which will provide a quality service to Lorca and to the bordering localities.

Specifically, it deals with the incidents of Lorca and Puerto Lumberas, although it offers support to a dozen neighboring towns.

Facilities

The park, located on the same plot that occupied the previous one, in the Polígono de los Peñones de Lorca, occupies an area of 3,500 square meters, of which 2,500 are built, and another 700 are below ground level, where it is located a storage and logistics area for large emergencies.

It has 11 hangars, social area and a separate area from the previous one where the firefighters are changed after an intervention, to prevent the entry of odors or pollutants.

It also has the best practice tower of all the fire stations of the Region, which simulates a real building.

In addition, it has two multipurpose training rooms and a room prepared to house firefighters from other parts of Spain, if necessary.

Likewise, a 30,000-liter water tank with an impulse pump independent of the water supply network has been installed.
