The City Council is launching a Comprehensive Plan of Cognitive Accessibility in municipal buildings to facilitate the completion of procedures for people with disabilities (01/03/2019)

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare of the City of Lorca, Fátima Mínguez, and the manager of Apandis, Marita Arcas, reported this morning of the implementation of an Integral Cognitive Accessibility Plan to implement measures of universal accessibility in municipal buildings .

Fátima Mínguez has indicated that "the adaptations contemplated within this Accessibility Plan will begin to take place in the City Hall building." This project, which we are implementing in close collaboration with Apandis, aims to provide the municipal buildings with the necessary capacity to be understood. by everyone and so that anyone can access them independently to perform any procedure or management, clearly and easily. "

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare has detailed that "in this first phase will be installed 40 pictograms with visible panels and clear information in the entrances to the City, in the rooms, stairs and elevators, as well as in the common areas, departments, services and directories. , which will soon be extended to other municipal offices and public spaces, we want to promote normalization so that the whole population can enjoy a design for all.

Mínguez explained that "in particular, this Comprehensive Plan of Cognitive Accessibility benefits people with intellectual disabilities, with autism spectrum disorder, with attention deficit disorder and / or with other developmental disorders, to people with acquired brain damage, to people with learning and language disorders, people with mental disorders, as well as older people with cognitive problems associated with aging, illiterate adults or those who do not know the language or culture of the country, immigrants and tourists, children and in general we all benefit, since the information comes to us more clearly and quickly. "

The Councilor for Family and Social Welfare stressed that "this is an initiative that is very important to normalize the day to day of people with disabilities, so that they are more and more autonomous and can lead an independent life in a fully-fledged society. inclusive From the City of Lorca we have marked the goal of making a city much more accessible by the hand of people with disabilities, as well as those who have other problems of literacy or understanding, so we want to promote this strategy of "design for all "that favors the autonomy of people with disabilities, contributing to their social inclusion".
