The Meetings with Author of the Network of Municipal Libraries bring this week the writers Ricardo Gómez and Antonia Ródenas to Lorca (12/03/2019)

The Councilor for Education of the City of Lorca, Francisco Montiel, announced the celebration during this week of new editions of Encounters with Author launched by the Municipal Libraries Network of Lorca.

Ricardo Gómez Gil was born in a town in Segovia in February 1954. His family emigrated to Madrid, where he grew up and has lived ever since.

Until he dedicated himself to writing, after his forties, he worked as a professor of mathematics.

His work has won several prizes such as the Juan Rulfo-Unión Latina Award (1996), the Ignacio Aldecoa de Cuento Award (1997 and 1998), the Ciudad de Mula Prize (1998), the Pedro Iglesias Caballero National Poetry Prize and the Felipe Prize Trigo de Novela (1999), Hucha de Plata Prize, FUNCAS-Hucha de Oro and La Felguera Short Story Prize (2001), Alandar Prize for Young Literature (2003), El Barco de Vapor Prize for Children's Literature (2006), Prize Cervantes Chico for the set of his work (2006), as well as the 2010 Gran Angular Youth Literature Prize, as well as several accésits and mentions as finalists for many others.

Antonia Ródenas is studying teaching.

Currently he teaches at the Els Xiquets Children's School, belonging to the Municipal Board of Children's Schools of Alicante.

He has participated in activities such as the Children's Literature Week in Elche, lectures in libraries, round tables, talks to parents, activities in schools, and so on.

He combines his work with literary creation.

His works are aimed at children, having obtained recognition as the Second Prize in the First International Illustrated Album Competition City of Alicante 2001, for "On tiptoe".
