The Local Police conducted 1,500 controls during 2018, identified 1,099 people and 4,054 vehicles (17/03/2019)

On the occasion of the feast of St. Patrick, patron of the Local Police of Lorca, a mass has been officiated at the Collegiate Church of San Patricio, and later, the raising of the flag at the Plaza de España, and then at the Guerra Theater, took place the award ceremony of Awards and Distinctions of the Local Police

March 17, 2019. The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has announced this morning on the occasion of the celebration of St. Patrick, patron of the Local Police of our city, the annual balance of the actions that this security body has made during the year 2018.

Fulgencio Gil stressed that "on a date as marked as today, San Patricio, we must recognize the fundamental work for the safety of our city is developed by local police officers, to whom we thank the huge, self-sacrificing and professional work that they always develop for this municipality and for all its citizens ".

The Mayor of Lorca stressed that "with a staff of professionals like that, with existing resources we have reasons to guarantee the present and future successes in security matters.

For that reason today I encourage all the agents that the effort continues to be up to the needs of Lorca.

Because this way we can continue feeling deeply proud of the vital service they perform ".

The mentioned balance indicates that throughout 2018 1,500 controls were carried out and 7,099 people and 4,054 vehicles were identified.

Regarding the proceedings conducted together with the National Police and Civil Guard, these amounted to 211, being those instructed by the Local Police 87. In addition, 302 suspects were arrested for committing crimes that were brought to justice, 8 stolen vehicles were recovered and 667 surveillances were carried out in institutes and parks.

The complaints made for infraction to the Organic Law 4/2015, of March 30, of protection of the citizen security, to the Municipal Ordinances, etc. were 539, while the total number of calls attended by the Local Police was 24,277, carrying out 800 humanitarian aid services to citizens, 134 attention in fires, 488 surveillance in markets and 436 vigilance in concentrations, parties and events in districts.

With regard to traffic and circulation actions, during the past year, 668 accidents involving 1,029 vehicles were involved and 86 injured people were registered.

The interventions of the agents involved the arrest of 5 people for refusing to perform alcohol tests, while another 87 were brought to court for violating the road safety regulations.

On the part of the team of reports, 668 files were opened due to accidents and crimes against road safety.

The administrative complaints for exceeding the maximum alcohol rate were 33, while the number of controls carried out aimed at traffic and circulation have been 241.

In addition, 1,033 new signals have been placed on vertical signs, 559 have been replaced, 217 have been removed and 40 traffic lights have been operated.

In relation to horizontal signage (road markings) 5m of road markings and curbs have been painted, 27,943 car parks have been signposted, 259 pedestrian steps have been repainted and 176 new ones have been painted, while 85.854m of line have been painted white / yellow and 5,381 m2 on the road and 40 m2 of milling.

87,028 has been the number of public space reservations that have been managed by the Local Police signaling team.

It should be noted that on the occasion of the feast of St. Patrick a Mass has been officiated at the Collegiate Church of St. Patrick, and later, the raising of the flag in the Plaza de España, and then at the Teatro Guerra, the ceremony of delivery of the Decorations and Distinctions of the Local Police of Lorca, in which awards have been given to agents David Abellán, Pedro Mengual, Manuel Rodríguez, Jesús Gázquez, Emilio García, Herminio Moriana, Ginés Cava, David Bermúdez, Victor Hernández, Daniel Cánovas, as well as all the members of the Local Police of Lorca who participated in the search for Gabriel Ruiz.

Distinctions have also been delivered to the Chief of the Local Police, Juan Amorós, to the agents of the National Police and Civil Guard Salvador Vidal and Manuel González, the agent Jerónimo Asensio of the Local Police of Huércal Overa, to the personnel of the Municipal Emergency Service Santiago Ibarra and Cristóbal del Río, as well as the Chief of Staff of the Lorca City Council, Mercedes López, and the media.
