The PSOE demands the urgent withdrawal of the existing broken asbestos sheets on several dilapidated buildings in Charco Street, next to the Los Curtidores Park (29/03/2019)

Mateos calls for urgent action to remove, as soon as possible, the fiber cement sheets that exist in several properties in ruins, and that pose a public danger, given the proximity of a public school and a playground.

In addition, he asks for the cleaning and cleaning of this environment.

The candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has demanded the urgent removal of the broken asbestos plates existing on several dilapidated buildings, which have remained for years, in the environment between Carrer Charco and Los Curtidores Park.

Mateos indicated that, during the last few weeks, there have been many residents of Charco Street, of buildings on Calle Caballón and around Los Curtidores Park, in the neighborhood of San Cristóbal those who "have shown us their great concern for the dilapidated state presented by several properties, and, above all, by the danger to public health of the existence of large fibrocement plates with asbestos (the popular uralite) that are broken in many parts or holes. The ruin of the buildings, he indicated, "causes that frequently parts of these plates fall and consequently break".

Several studies indicate that the problem of fibrocement plates or uralites appears with the breakage of them when free particles (fibers) of asbestos in suspension that can be inhaled by neighbors and bystanders, especially when there is an immediate school (CEIP Sacred Heart ) and a children's playground (Plaza de Curtidores), so these plates must be eliminated with the corresponding protocols.

For all these reasons, Mateos urgently demanded that, in the shortest possible time, municipal technicians of this City Council come to the site and proceed to assess the situation of existing fiber cement slabs on dilapidated buildings in various properties at the end of the Calle Charco and the north facade of the Parque de Curtidores del Barrio de San Cristóbal, in order to proceed with its withdrawal, given the danger they pose to public health, using the established withdrawal protocols, either by ownership or in case of refusal, Executed by the City Council.
