The PSOE councilor in the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos has celebrated that now that there are two months left until the next municipal and regional elections, the Popular Party has realized how important the University Campus is and everything that needs to.

"As it will be, that in three long years it has been impossible for the Plenary Consortium of the University of Lorca to meet, where the City Council, the Autonomous Community and the University are represented".

Another example of this abandonment of functions was evident when approving the accounts of the Consortium, since only those relating to the 2018 fiscal year have been approved, with both 2016 and 2017 pending.

"They have had to spend eight long years so that, now that there are barely 50 days until the next elections, the Popular Party will remember to announce the restoration of the façade of the Campus, cracked and disconnected as a result of the 2011 earthquakes," which has been continuously denounced by the PSOE, recalls the mayor.

"It's hard to believe that supposed commitment, a party that says it will do in two months everything it has not wanted to do in eight years," says Mazuecos.

However, Mazuecos welcomes the Popular Party and welcomes that they want to adhere to the proposals that the PSOE has championed during all these years.

"If there has been a party that, since its foundation, has believed and has opted for the University Campus, and for the role it must play in the social and economic growth of the city of Lorca, that has been the PSOE."

The mayor says that "it is clear that our demands, always with the demands of the campus team, are beginning to bear fruit, and in this case, the PP has no choice but to accept and join."

However, he insists, "it is hard to believe that who has dedicated himself to ballasting the development of the University in Lorca, the same ones who have not moved a single finger to strengthen the Campus of Lorca and have limited themselves to process what we have done, They are going to do something that, now that two months are up for an election, they remember to promise. "

The PSOE, recalls María Ángeles Mazuecos, has defended numerous initiatives in recent years in the Plenary Session of the City Council, and also the Regional Assembly, calling for both the implementation of the third degree, the creation of a socialization room, the promotion of pretension to build a research center related to the field of gerontology, as well as the much-demanded repair of the campus facade.

Proposals, all of them, for which the PSOE is firmly committed, and which are included in the SOL project, with solutions for Lorca.
