The Plaza Virgen de la Amargura will host on Thursday the activity "Igualarte" organized by Cazalla Intercultural to raise awareness among young people in Lorca about equality (02/04/2019)

The event, framed within the municipal program of March 8, will begin at 4:00 pm and there will be a collaborative graffiti, open microphone, body painting, self-defense workshop, Doodle workshop and "change and sing" workshop, among others.

The Intercultural Cazalla Association will make next Thursday, April 4, within the commemorative events of March 8, International Women's Day, the Igualarte event: an action for equality, which will be held in the Plaza Virgen de la Amargura from the 16 until 9 pm and in which a large number of young Lorca will participate.

This action is an awareness campaign on gender equality organized by young people and whose main objective is to involve Lorca to share their thoughts and concerns on the subject and participate in proposals for change for a more egalitarian and just society.

The event will begin at 4 pm with the painting of a collaborative graffiti, continue at 5 pm with the opening of a microphone for those who want to talk about equality, singing, rapping, reciting poems and stories, among others.

Also at 5:00 pm there will be a series of activities such as body painting, self-defense workshop (17 hours), Doodle workshop (19 hours), the "change and sing" workshop (7:15 pm), as well as more actions parallel where young people can express themselves about gender equality, share ideas and have a good time.

The activity is framed in the New Genderation project, co-funded by the Rights, Equality and Citizenship Program of the European Union (2014-2020), and aims to prevent and combat gender-based violence among young people by offering them processes of learning for action in gender sensitivity.

It was launched in 2017 and lasts two years.

It is coordinated by Cazalla Intercultural together with the partners Szansa of Poland and PEN of Bulgaria.

"Igualarte" is part of the broad, vindictive, participative and plural programming with which the Lorca Consistory, under the slogan "Bordemos la igualdad", proclaim a message of equality that deeply imprints on the conscience of our society, especially Our young people, through a score of social groups that have actively participated in this campaign with the aim of claiming equal opportunity and raising awareness about the role of women in society.

From the City of Lorca we want to congratulate Cazalla Intercultural for the work they do in all the projects they carry out in our city, particularly in this one that will allow new generations to become aware of gender violence and characteristic aspects of today's society .

Once again they consolidate themselves as a reference organization at the international level for the study of youth from a global framework in which intercultural collaboration allows us to grow as a better society.
