In addition, it will also inform about the European project Life Adaptate in which the Lorca City Council participates as a member since September 2017 with the intention of preparing a PACES Climate and Sustainable Energy Adaptation Plan in the municipality of Lorca and carry out an action pilot as a measure of adaptation to climate change in the city of Lorca through the installation of awnings in the historic center of Lorca.

The didactic unit has been carried out by the same Eurovértice team thanks to the financial support of the European Union and will be taught by José Pablo Delgado Marín, energy consultant industrial engineer and Eva Asensio Martínez, graduate in environmental sciences.

Plan of Adaptation to the Climate and the Sustainable Energy PACES in the municipality of Lorca

It should be noted that the preparation of the PACES, included in the Life Adaptation Project, was launched on March 21 with the holding of the first participatory workshop, which was convened by the main agents of the environmental table that was created within the framework of the Social Council of the City to deal with this very specific matter and prepare the first draft of the adaptation plan that is finally approved.

As for the Pilot Action, work has already begun for the installation of awnings in the Corredera street and adjacent to the historic center of Lorca, to try to reduce the impact of high temperatures during the months of June, July, August and September .

This pilot test will be carried out during these months in the years 2019, 2020 and 2021 to try to reduce the urban heat islands or microclimates that are generated in cities given the high solar radiation, as a measure of adaptation to climate change.

In the same way they try to alleviate the temperatures for the pedestrians during the warmest months in the city of Lorca, as well as to reactivate the commercial zone of the heart of Lorca.
