The candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, accompanied by councilor David Romera and a group of residents of the street Portijico has claimed more investment for the San Cristobal neighborhood "after twelve years of PP governments that have finally dismantled important public services with which El Barrio counted In addition, Mateos has highlighted the serious situation that presents Portijico Street for years, needed to run its remodeling.
Mateos and Romera have echoed the demands of the residents of Carrer Portijico, one of the main arteries of the San Cristóbal neighborhood, who have been demanding for years the urban regeneration of the street, "which is in a deplorable state after years of abandonment by the PP ".
The street, they point out "is full of patches and subsidence in its road and sidewalks, there are great architectural barriers, night lighting is insufficient, chaotic traffic of vehicles, parking is missing, there are not enough sinkholes to collect rainwater, lack street furniture and there are wide stretches without sidewalks or these are narrow or full of vegetation ".
It is striking that the street, despite its need, was not included in any of the urban regeneration projects in the San Cristóbal neighborhood, so they demand "that the appropriate urban regeneration project be drafted and financed with the losses in the adjudication processes of other works that are executed in Lorca, as it has happened in other cases of streets that were left out of urban regeneration projects ".
Also, Mateos recalled once again the "unfortunate situation" in which is a lot located at the beginning of the street Portijico and that has become a real headache for many neighbors.
