IU-Verdes Lorca criticizes "reactionary" to prevent rural workers from taking the bus in the urban area (12/04/2019)

Pedro Sosa regretted the lack of sensitivity of the Councilor for Citizen Security and Traffic, Belén Pérez, to facilitate the displacement of these people to their places of work.

"The City Council can not facilitate urban mobility depending on the social class of transport users," he said.

12.04.19 The candidate for mayor of the United Left-Greens of Lorca, Pedro Sosa, has condemned the decision of the municipal government of the PP in Lorca to prohibit the passage and stop of buses transporting agricultural workers through the urban area of the city.

A measure that Sosa called "unsupportive" and "reactionary" and that is also being contested by different unions, because "it forces people who get up at four in the morning to go to work to have to walk several kilometers to the collection points available ", which are located outside the city.

Sosa lamented the "low sensitivity" of the Councilor for Citizen Security and Traffic, Belén Pérez, to facilitate the displacement of these people to their workplaces.

"The City Council can not facilitate urban mobility based on the social class of transport users," said the mayoral candidate of IU.

From Izquierda Unida consider that next stops should be enabled, including one in the vicinity of the bus station, in areas where the rest of the neighbors can be reconciled with the need of these people to take the bus to go to work.

Therefore, Sosa demanded that the instruction be annulled "immediately" and that no discrimination be generated for this group, on which much of the Lorca's economy depends.
