The Network of Jewish Quarters "Caminos de Sefarad" organizes a new edition of its micro-stories contest for schoolchildren with the aim of spreading the serfadí legacy among young people (16/04/2019)

This is the Benjamín de Sefarad educational program and in this edition of 2019 schoolchildren can participate in this contest through a new web platform.

A jury chaired by writer Luis Alberto de Cuenca and made up of professionals from the cities of the Jewish Network will announce the winner in the month of July

The Network of Jewish Quarters of Spain launches a new edition of Benjamín de Sefarad, an educational program that has been held since 2014 and aims to raise awareness among schoolchildren of the Sephardic legacy of the 22 cities that make up the Jewish Network of Jewish Quarters. Spain.

Thus, and for our children and young people to become Small Discoverers of Sefarad, the Network organizes this year a participatory game of questions and answers, covering various aspects of Jewish culture and history.

The game that invites to the visit of a city of the Network of Jewish Quarters, which must be photographed, will also serve to participate in the second edition of the Fiction Competition of the Network of Jewish Quarters, and in the last step they will have to deliver their micro-story -of more than 350 words and that will be as always very open about his discovery of the Spanish Jewish past or his experience in visiting a Jewry.

The contest is aimed at schoolchildren of any school in Spain born in the years 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008. Schoolchildren can participate from this same April 12 and until July 5, accessing www.redjuderias.org, the website of the Network of Spanish Jewish Quarters.

Among all participants will be drawn lots of surprises but the 30 best will see how his story is published in book, as happened in the first edition.

The best ones will be presented with Travel vouchers so that they can continue discovering the world.

In the first days of the month of July, a jury chaired by the writer Luis Alberto de Cuenca will decide the selected and awarded stories.

It is worth remembering that last March the Network of Jewish Quarters "Caminos de Sefarad" approved the entry of our city within this entity, an inclusion for which it has been working on behalf of the Department of Tourism in a coordinated manner with different areas of the City Council for several years, and that encourages us to continue with our work for the promotion of the Jewish heritage, Jewish Quarter and the Synagogue discovered in the Castle of Lorca.
