This action has been developed in collaboration with the different associations of neighbors and social groups of the city through the different activities that are carried out of coexistence and environmental education, as well as in the days of planting of trees that are organized
On the occasion of the Day of the Tree, whose anniversary is celebrated today, April 26, the City Council recalled that over the past year have been planted in our municipality of more than 2,630 trees, an action developed in collaboration with the various associations of neighbors and social groups of the city through the different activities that are carried out of coexistence and environmental education, as well as in the days of planting trees that are organized throughout the year.
During 2018, the type specimens that have been planted correspond to typical species of our region such as orange, pine, mulberry, ficus, carob, holm oaks, acibuches, ... reaching more than thirty species.
Its distribution includes areas such as Castillo, Parque Casa Mata, Cabezo de las Palas, San Roque neighborhood, Women's Park, Nuevo Mundo Urbanization, Puente Gimeno Park, Musso Valiente street, Donantes de Sangre street, Ronda Sur, Fernanda street Zabalduru, Barrio San Fernando, Juan Carlos I Avenue, Espina Pomares Street, Alameda de Menchirón, Alameda de Cervantes, Alamedas de Lorca, La Viña, as well as in the districts of Rio, Avilés, Zarzadilla de Totana, La Hoya, Marchena, La Torrecilla and Purias (Torre del Obispo Urbanization), among other locations.
It should be remembered that the workers of the Department of Parks and Gardens carry out throughout the year in our municipality tasks of irrigation, mowing and profiling of grass, fertilization, aeration, scarification and replanting of grass, interbedded, raking, weeding and elimination of Weeds, preservation of the structure of the existing plant elements, conservation of the trees, maintenance of the irrigation network, replenishment, pruning, shrub trimming, ornamentation of squares and gardens, as well as cleaning of these areas, among others.
