The Landscape Platform of Lorca demands that political parties include more information and regulation of the green spaces of the municipality in their programs (08/05/2019)

The Platform for Landscape Quality of Lorca, composed of nine associations of the municipality (1), calls on all political parties to include in their electoral programs for the municipal elections of May 2019, the creation of the Landscape Observatory and the Ordinance green areas and road trees, in order to raise awareness of the importance of conserving the green spaces and trees of the municipality and regulate it through an appropriate regulation.

Both proposals are recommended in the "Urban Landscape Quality Plan of Lorca", which was presented in June 2015

The Landscape Observatory in Lorca, would be a forum where citizens could learn about the urban actions that affect the trees and green areas of Lorca and channel their proposals, promoting regular meetings and workshops and public awareness activities.

In this way, the social alarm provoked by the most aggressive actions could be avoided, by explaining the need to execute them and the reasons that justify it.

It would be composed by the administration and by the associations and citizens interested in these issues and should be part of the Social Council of the City, to cross data and actions related to the environment.

In short, an Observatory where projects or specific actions can be proposed and which receive reasoned answers about their viability.

With regard to the Ordinance of green areas and urban trees, would aim to regulate the protection and improvement of urban trees, as well as their parks and gardens.

In addition, it must carry out an inventory of a good part of the trees and specify a Catalog of Monumental and Singular Trees, an arduous task taking into account the multiple incidences that occur in public roads, and that in the case of living beings, they are subject to the circumstances of their life cycles, birth, development and death and the possibility of suffering damages, diseases and plagues.

From the Platform for Landscape Quality ask that the urban projects, whenever possible, adapt to the already consolidated forest mass and take into account the investment made for years, and that so much money and resources have needed, independently value as a species of them and that sidewalks and wide pedestrian spaces are generated to plant trees of good size that can fulfill their regenerative function of the air that is contaminated and to reduce the high solar radiation that we suffer, offering shade, freshness and quality of life to the neighbors and visitors of the municipality.
