The Minister of Public Works urges the Government of Spain to condone the interests of the files for the reimbursement of the repair aid and to extend the terms of the reconstruction aid

The Joint Commission monitoring the measures taken for the reconstruction of Lorca today granted new aid, worth 409,000 euros, to continue to meet the needs of those affected by earthquakes and contribute to the payment of rent and the repair and reconstruction of their homes .

40 rental subsidies have been granted, for a value of 373,854 euros, to help the families of Lorca to pay the monthly rents of the homes in which they reside while completing the rehabilitation or reconstruction of their homes.

Of the 40 grants, 33 correspond to third extensions for more than 309,000 euros and the rest, another 7, are second extensions, with an amount exceeding 64,000 euros.

It is the first time that the concession of third rent extensions has been approved, after the signing of the collaboration agreement between the Autonomous Community and the regional Government.

In addition, the Mixed Commission has granted another 89,000 euros in aid after analyzing the documentation presented by the beneficiaries and reviewing their files.

So far, the Mixed Commission, formed by the Community, the central Government and the City of Lorca, has resolved 99.86 percent of the total of the files and has approved aid worth 80.9 million euros, of the that 87 percent of the total has already been paid to the beneficiaries.

The rest of the authorized amount corresponds to rental and reconstruction aids, which will be effective once the neighbors present the justification for the finished work.

In global terms, 16,078 cases out of a total of 16,094 have been resolved, which have involved approving 32,772,415 million euros for the repair of houses and another 23,463,363 million for reconstruction, 16,543,368 million for rent, 7,810. 130 euros for the repair of common elements in communities of owners and 341,009 euros for the replacement of equipment.

Petitions to the Government of Spain

The Minister of Development and Infrastructure, Patricio Valverde, asked the Government of Spain for an "urgent solution" to the families of Lorca.

On the one hand, asked to condemn the Lorca affected the interests of delay of the repair aid, corresponding to the state tranche of the subsidy, and that exceed 420,000 euros.

He also demanded that the term be extended so that they can complete the reconstruction of their homes, which are still under construction, as well as those buildings that will soon be demolished.

This situation affects more than 411 Lorca families.

A total of 657 families have benefited from the aid for the reconstruction of their homes, granted by the Mixed Commission for an amount of more than 23.4 million euros, co-financed at 50 percent by the Autonomous Community and the State.
