• All municipal policies will pivot on priority attention to the elderly, responding to their demands for leisure, culture, assistance and housing, among other issues.

The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has held a meeting with groups of older people, in which he has transferred that during the coming years will increase the resources and initiatives that help ensure the maintenance of their personal autonomy, offering more and better courses and activities of all kinds for this group, which will be chosen by them.

Lorca have a debt of gratitude to our elders and from public administrations we have an obligation to respond to this commitment.

For this reason we will continue developing the "Lorca Friendly City with the Elderly" Project, to make our municipality a friendly city and prepared in all areas for our elderly.

All municipal policies will take into account the needs of leisure, culture, housing, social care and any other matter presented by our elders.

Fulgencio Gil has anticipated that the project of sheltered housing will be expanded, a reality that we have already put in place and that we now advocate to continue consolidating and working to make it compatible with the attention of these users in their reference day centers.

The Mayor has said that active aging is the objective on which pivot the programs of the Department of the Mayor so we will continue to enrich the offer of the various workshops and free activities that we offer from this area: gerontogimnasia, cognitive stimulation, theater, dance , crafts, New Technologies, mobile courses, painting, ...

Fulgencio Gil has stressed that older people have done exemplary work during the crisis, becoming a fundamental pillar to maintain the country and the support of many families.

The PSOE "rewarded" freezing pensions when they were most necessary and making them lose purchasing power.

The PP has always shown its commitment to the elderly.

The Executive chaired by Mariano Rajoy, to take a close example, spent 2,000 million euros more on pensions, increasing by 5% during his years of government;

the PSOE froze them.

Thanks to the Government, it has been guaranteed that pensions are neither lowered nor frozen.

In addition, we must remember that the Regional Government has shown its commitment to the elderly by dedicating an exclusive counseling to social welfare and expanding both places and activities in senior centers.
