The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has "thanked all the people who have made this race a celebration of sport, solidarity and a tribute to Lorca and everything we have achieved since that fateful afternoon in May 2011 "

The mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, together with the General Director of La Verdad, Antonio González, have handed over to the Association of Relatives of children with cancer in the Region of Murcia, AFACMUR, a donation of 4,859 euros that were collected thanks to the celebration of the IX Mini Marathon Lorquimur Run x Lorca held last Sunday May 12.

Gil stressed that "we had the fortune to live an unforgettable day of sport in tribute to the city of Lorca." As has been happening since the earthquakes of May 11, 2011, the City of the Sun takes this sporting event to take stock and to contemplate all that Lorca has achieved since then, how we have recovered what was lost by building a new Lorca much stronger and more cheerful, more than a thousand people wanted to join this sport festival on a Sunday to remember Lorca ".

Gil stressed that "there were a total of 1,326 entries, 65 dorsal 0 and 1,261 for races in the various categories, especially highlighting the 654 runners in the 7-kilometer race, so we have to give 1,326 times thanks to these people who have shown their generosity, making it possible that today we give this donation of 4,859 euros to AFACMUR so that they can continue with the extraordinary work they do for the benefit of children suffering from cancer, as well as their families. "

Similarly, the Mayor wanted to have a word of thanks for "all the people who gave their time and effort to make this historic race possible: the 55 volunteers, local police officers, health teams, employees of sports clubs , as well as all the people who came to cheer and applaud the runners making this great sporting event possible ".

In a special way, Gil wanted to "thank his generosity and commitment to the company Lorquimur and its manager, Ginés Méndez, because his support for the test has been essential to turn it into the best edition of Corre x Lorca." Also to the newspaper La Verdad, it is still a luxury ally for the promotion of the race and, of course, all the officers of the Department of Sports for the organization, time and professionalism to continue consolidating the Run x Lorca as one of the most participative and the most special of all the regional calendar ".
