The Mayor of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has anticipated today that the petition is already underway to install in our municipality a new battery of 150 video surveillance cameras exclusively for citizen security, which will be added to those that have already been located in Avenida Juan Carlos with Santa Paula Oval, Alameda de la Constitución, Musso Valiente street, Fajardo El Bravo street and Santa Clara Avenue.
The location is specially designed by the Local Police for protection against vandalism.
The first of the zones for which the authorization to install will be requested will be the Mayor Street of the San Cristóbal neighborhood, as well as Lope Gisbert, Avenida de Europa, Armed Forces, Los Angeles, La Viña and Alameda de Cervantes, next to different enclaves of the historic center, parks, squares and green areas.
In this way we want Lorca to remain one of the safest municipalities in Spain, as has been confirmed by an independent study that we knew a few days ago.
Fulgencio Gil explained that since we informed that we were going to launch this new tool, one of the most practical in the fight against vandalism as it has been contrasted in different cities, there have been multiple citizen groups and associations of all kinds that they have transferred us the suitability of increasing their installation to other locations.
We are talking about a resource that offers an accentuated utility when it comes to identifying the perpetrators of vandalism, with a marked dissuasive effect, especially valuable in its prevention profile of this type of incident.
It also serves to provide our Local Police with direct and real-time information on any eventuality that may arise, thus allowing a quicker and more effective response to assist citizens.
We will provide Lorca with a resource of incontestable usefulness, whose practical nature has been contrasted in multiple cases in which the intervention of the State security forces and bodies has been required.
The objective pursued by the installation of these cameras is to ensure the protection of buildings and public facilities and their access, verify infractions of public safety and prevent damage to people and property.
Security button for merchants, hoteliers and women athletes.
Another novelty that has been planned to start will be to provide the group of merchants and hoteliers, as well as groups of women who often play sports in our town, a Security Button.
It is a mechanism of similar appearance to the well-known tele-assistance system, thanks to which the people of these collectives who so request will have a device of small size, equipped with a push button with direct communication with the Local Police to warn of any incident .
We are talking about a pocket alarm, similar in size, for example, in charge of a garage, which transfers to the police services the exact location of the person.
By having an individualized code, the police will also know the identity of who makes the warning, enabling an immediate reaction.
This initiative will be a pioneer in Lorca and we will implement it after having verified the good result it is offering in other cities of our country that have opted for its development and making available to citizen entities.
In this line and before the material and economic impossibility of having a universal nature, we have supervised the experience of other municipalities to undertake their gradual implementation.
In the case of hoteliers and merchants, these professionals have been chosen to close their businesses, many times, in late hours, while the case of groups of women who practice sports in open spaces, we are all aware of the cases that We have had to lament in other enclaves of Spain, and here we do not want them to occur.
In any case, this tool could be extended to other groups.
