The Ombudsman, following the complaint filed by the PSOE, warns of "excessive delay" in the waiting lists of the Rafael Méndez de Lorca hospital (22/05/2019)

Mateos: "We Lorca do not want to be more, but not less, we deserve, at least, the same human and material resources as the rest of the health areas of the Region, so that there is no discrimination and the right to public health is guaranteed. universal, quality and free "

The candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has called for the mobilization so that this Sunday, May 26, Lorca get at the polls to give the necessary turn to current policies, to solve the problems that drag the public health, and to stop this way a Popular Party that is going to leave to Lorca "to the tail of the tail" of the public health in the Region.

"We Lorca do not want to be more, but not less, we deserve, at least, the same human and material resources as the rest of the health areas of the Region, so that there is no discrimination and the right to universal public health is guaranteed, of quality and free. "

Mateos has echoed the requirement that, recently, the Ombudsman has made the Murcian Health Service, following the complaint filed by the PSOE in October 2018, warning of the "illegal" waiting lists suffered by users in the area III of health.

The Ombudsman warns that "there is a delay that translates into the fact that the extension of the waiting period that affects patients for the first external consultations, in some specialties, exceeds the legally established period in many cases."

The Ombudsman claims to have received a reply from the Murcian Health Service (SMS), in which it is indicated that the specialties in which the maximum period of 50 days is exceeded, to attend a first appointment, according to the data obtained in February of 2019, are: Gynecology, with an average time of 82.17 days;

General Surgery, an average time of 73.78 days;

Dermatology, with an average time of 137, 58 days;

Ophthalmology, with an average time of 71.53 days;

Rehabilitation, with an average time of 148.9 days;

Traumatology, with an average time of 87.19 days, and Urology, with an average time of 103.8 days.

Taking into account the information received, the Ombudsman has recommended to the Murcia Health Service to adopt additional measures so that in Health Area III the effectiveness of the maximum term of 50 calendar days for first external consultations in access is ensured to benefits scheduled and not urgent, according to the provisions of article 5 of Decree 25/2006, of March 31.

As the Ombudsman has been able to summarize, based on the information provided by the SMS, in almost all of these specialties management has been carried out in external consultations aimed at increasing the number of first visits in agendas, and there has been an important factor related to human resources, such as absenteeism due to temporary disability, maternity leave, or leave due to child care, "which has caused a high number of days with fewer active professionals who could not be replaced due to absence of professionals available on the stock exchange. "

In addition, it has warned the absence of dermatology specialists available on the job board, and indicates that in Area III the waiting list is being managed by using private entities that collaborate in the provision of certain services such as conducting external consultations and Surgical activity of patients in this area, since it only has one dermatologist at half-time and another with two-thirds of the working day.
