Diego José Mateos: "Betting on the University, for the strategic revitalization of the Historic District and commerce, and for the cultural and tourist recovery we will make Lorca shine again" (24/05/2019)

Mateos: "We are very close to getting the change that Lorca needs The safe and necessary change We have the team, the project, the desire and the illusion of recovering the shine that this city, our neighborhoods and our districts have lost these years "

The candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has said that "only the PSOE represents the strength of a winning party, which has available to the Lorca team, the project and the illusion to return to Lorca the lost splendor during all these years".

For this, Mateos assures that his commitment to the University will be "vital", as an engine of development;

for the strategic revitalization of the Historical Center and traditional commerce, and of course, to recover the cultural and tourist offer that "Lorca deserves", through the enhancement of the "enormous artistic and monumental potential", far from "occurrences and extremism. "

Mateos has once again insisted that "Lorca can not keep turning his back on the University".

"The impetus we want to give to the University will be a before and after, not only for the neighborhood, but for the municipality as a whole."

As of May 26, there will once again be a government at the head of the City Council that will be demanding for the University to grow, as it should have grown at the time;

attracting new degrees;

meeting the needs of its wonderful Rector team, and streamlining the development of infrastructures and pending projects.

"The university has been stifled these 12 years, and all because it is a project that raised socialist government."

In matters of tourism and culture, Mateos says that "it is and must be an important piece in the gearing of the economic model of the municipality."

For this, the mayoral candidate insists on the need to start, as soon as possible, IFELOR as an institution that "catalyses and channels" the offer of fairs, congresses and events that place Lorca in the place of reference that corresponds to us and that They let lose.

Along with the support of the festivities, also in neighborhoods and districts, and of course, the commitment to the Holy Week in Lorca, Mateos speaks of a "cultural and tourism Lorca open 365 days a year, in which they recover in addition the offer of festivals and concerts that encumbró to international appointments, as the Lorca Rock.

Under the brand "Lorca, 5,000 years of history", and through an ambitious strategy, Mateos marks itself as a "vital" goal that values our historical, artistic, archaeological, and ethnological potential.

"The immense heritage of the Old Town with the broadest representation of the Murcian Baroque gives us the possibility to value the palaces and create a true open museum that would integrate the former collegiate church, the Town Hall, the San Antonio porch and the turrets of the medieval wall, the pósito, the old jail, the courts or the Conservatory ".

To do this, it is necessary to prepare an ambitious plan to value the Historic District.

Our objective is to make possible the population recovery and the social improvement of the historic center of Lorca, delimiting it as an area of regeneration and urban renewal, making it attractive for private companies and for young people seeking their first home.

"Everything, through a comprehensive strategy, with a Young Housing plan in the monumental area of Lorca that encourages the construction of housing by private initiative, and a firm commitment to the embellishment of historic facades, with the use of the abandoned lots, and of course, the recovery of the traditional commercial fabric ".
