The candidate for Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos has once again demanded the opening of study rooms 24 hours, both in the city and in districts, to cover the "high demand" of students who need this type of space in which to be able to prepare their exams "in conditions".
"Not everyone has the same availability to be able to use the current study rooms with the schedules they have, which on the other hand, are limited, as is normal, to the reduction of schedules for holidays or vacations."
"We are concerned that our students, in the absence of these study rooms, have to move to municipalities such as Puerto Lumbreras, due to the fact that in a city like Lorca we do not have this type of service."
Mateos has warned that "the preparation of the EBAU, the entrance exam to the University, has once again highlighted the need for our students to have this type of facility, adapted to their schedules" and that, he assures, " They would already be available if it depended on a PSOE government. "
The Socialist spokesman recalled that "since all parties, during the election campaign, we include in our electoral programs this proposal, which, on the other hand, we have claimed from the PSOE during these last four years, leading this demand, is justice that now that they need to be put in place, as soon as possible ".
Mateos recalled that "even the Popular Party, which has devoted the last four years to reneging on this initiative, to reject it every time we have proposed it, took advantage of these 15 days of electoral campaign to join our proposal and promise to open a 24-hour study room. "
That is why Mateos has urged the current government team to "put it into operation as soon as possible".
"If they are really committed to this claim, they are already slow to enable these spaces or expand the hours of the current study rooms, as our students have been claiming for years," warned Mateos.
