The works of the alternative access road to the Castle of Lorca will end this June with the improvement of signaling, drainage, stabilization of several areas of the slopes to prevent landslides and, throughout today, will be finished the asphalting of the road.

This is the last phase of the remodeling of the access road to the castle, 1,560 meters, which includes the connection with the southern area of ​​Lorca.

The action involves a regional investment of 1.2 million euros and allows the expansion of this road to be adapted to the traffic currently supported and the strengthening of security.

The general director of Highways, José Antonio Fernández Lladó (2nd right) made an inspection visit today to the works that "improve the conditions of circulation, accessibility and safety to this tourist and cultural area so important for the municipality."

He recalled that the remodeling has included the stabilization of several areas of the slopes with meshes anchored to the rock that prevent landslides.

"We have reinforced the security by consolidating the slopes of the road and the construction of a new road connecting the castle to the southern part of the city of more than 1.3 kilometers in length and 6 meters wide of road", highlighted José Antonio Fernández Lladó.
