IU-Lorca asks the Deputy Mayor of Lorca to demand that C's avoid closing the doctor's offices in the summer (21/06/2019)

Gloria Martín said that Morales has a complicated role when it comes to watching over the neighborhood interest, because his party holds different parties in power that defend one thing in Lorca and another in Murcia.

Therefore, he asked him to prevail his status as representative of Lorca and be "belligerent" in front of those who are responsible for the loss of quality of life and rights of neighbors

The councilor of IU-Green Lorca, has asked the deputy mayor of the city, Francisco Morales (C's) to demand his party, which supports the regional government of the PP in the Region of Murcia, to exercise "the necessary pressures" to avoid closing the medical office of Puente La Pía during the three months of summer.

The councilor of IU-Greens said that Morales has a "complicated" role when it comes to watching over the neighborhood interest, because "his party holds different parties in power that defend one thing in Lorca and Murcia in another."

Therefore, he asked him to prevail his status as representative of Lorca and be "consistent" and "belligerent" against those who are responsible for the loss of quality of life and rights of neighbors.

Martín has warned that, since yesterday, the schedule of the office of Puente La Pia is closed and you can not ask for a medical appointment either in person, by phone, or electronically from the Murcia Health Service website.

This, despite the fact that, after the protests carried out by the neighbors this week, the Manager of Area III, Catalina Lorenzo, assured that the decision on the closing of the office "was not taken".

The councilor of IU-Green Lorca recalled that this cut has been affecting, for eight years, 800 residents of the towns of Pulgara, Cazalla and Tiata and the Virgen de las Huertas neighborhood.

"Many of the users are elderly and need the regional government to respect the principle of proximity that governs public health," said Martin, who stressed that "health care is a right that does not mean holidays or summer , neither at Easter, nor at Christmas or on bridges ".

The excuse used by the head of Area III is the same as always: the difficulties in hiring medical staff.

In this regard, Martin said that the real motivation is "strictly economic" and that, under these types of measures, "the intention is to" dismantle public health.

"The reduction of staff that affects the health centers and the regional hospital Rafael Méndez, aims to not cover most of the absences of staff for vacations," he explained, so "SMS saves at the expense of the health of the taxpayers ".
