The councilor of IU-Greens Lorca, Gloria Martin, has asked the City of Lorca to urgently request the Autonomous Region of Murcia a plan for clearing and cleaning ditches in the network of autonomous roads.
Some works that the mayor asks to be made extensible to local roads.
Martín alluded, for example, to the RM-D8, which connects Lorca with the town of Aguaderas, known as the road of the slopes of Mesillo, and whose margins are invaded by brush, which involves a significant risk of fire, which could affect the residential areas located in the environment.
"We believe that prevention is essential to prevent fires," said Martín.
In addition, Martin said that clearing is also necessary to improve road safety, facilitating visibility and preventing the vegetation, which in some cases invades the road, to cover traffic signals.
The councilor of Izquierda Unida-Verdes pointed out that some roads in the municipality are in poor conditions of maintenance, such as the RM-332 in its stretch from the Lorca-Águilas fast track to Ramonete, in the area next to Los Asensios ravine, within the natural park of the Sierra de la Almenara, which also entails a risk of forest fire with loss of spaces of significant ecological value.
