The councilman of Development of the Popular Group in the City of Lorca, Angel Mecca, has claimed today that Lorca is the first city in our region to benefit from the commissioning of the new hybrid commuter trains that has announced that it will buy the Board of Directors of RENFE, following the commitment undertaken in this matter by the Ministry of Development of the Regional Government and that goes back to the meeting held between the two institutions in May 2018.
Ángel Meca has stated that this is an opportunity that we can not miss, in fact we have been working to achieve the modernization of the trains that connect Lorca with Murcia and Águilas for years, and now that they have announced their acquisition we want the demands of Lorca to improve these convoys is the first on the table both the Ministry of Development and the Council of Renfe.
In fact, our goal is that the next plenary session of the City Council support the initiative that we are going to raise in this regard to move the unity of our city in relation to an issue that, at this point, constitutes a question of claim as a city rather than a mere issue politics.
From the Popular Party we want that, for once, Renfe prioritizes the issues that have to do with Lorca, because it is good to suffer with the oldest trains in Spain for the service of our citizens.
After decades of authentic forgetting, we are now in a position to demand that they comply with this city.
We can not condemn Lorca to continue suffering a service clearly improved.
It is true that a few years ago they "rejuvenated" some units, but that patch has not been a real improvement for the users of the lines with Murcia and Águilas, in fact yesterday morning there was a new breakdown in the train with the coastal town , with the consequent delay and inconveniences for the citizens, a break that adds to the one registered last week in the same convoys, and in turn is linked to the extensive list of problems of these trains.
According to the news transferred by Renfe, a dozen hybrid trains will arrive in our region to provide coverage for the commuter service.
It is about hybrid trains formed by 3 cars plus a generator van, being able to circulate both electrified and non-electrified, which will allow the substitution of the diesel material.
Ángel Meca has indicated that the time is right for the central government to comply with Lorca.
The terrible decisions that have been taken in railway matters in Lorca over decades have relegated us to being one of the municipalities with the worst suburban service, a reality that is compounded by the fact that our communications were cut by train with Almeria and Granada, accumulating an authentic historical railway debt with the Lorca, which we are now ready to start covering.
