More than a hundred boys and girls will participate from July 16 to 31 in a new edition of the Summer Schools to conciliate and co-educate (08/07/2019)

The initiative will be developed both in the urban area, specifically in the facilities of the Popular University of Lorca, as in districts and rural areas of the municipality, in the CEIP de Almendricos and in the CEIP Petra González de La Paca.

The Councilor for Education and Equality of the City of Lorca, Antonia Perez, reported this morning that next Tuesday, July 16, will begin to operate the 'Summer Schools to conciliate and coeducate' that each month of July sets in motion the City Council of Lorca for children between 3 and 12 years old.

Perez recalled that this program aims "to provide services to reconcile work and private life in our municipality, covering the care needs of these children enrolled in centers of Early Childhood or Primary Education of Lorca or who are registered in our locality, while their parents are working or receiving training for employment. "

The initiative 'Schools to reconcile and co-educate' will be developed from July 16 to 31, both in the urban area, specifically in the facilities of the Popular University of Lorca, as in districts and rural areas of the municipality, in the CEIP of Almendricos and at the CEIP Petra González de La Paca, from 7:45 to 3:15 p.m.

The mayor of Equality recalled that this program, which responds to "the demands raised by women in the municipality, aims to convey to children and coeducational attitudes and values ​​using games and artistic expression as educational means, to contribute to the elimination of gender roles and stereotypes, as well as contributing to make visible the contributions of women in the development of the family, the community and society in general. "

In the Summer Schools, workshops and varied activities will be developed, such as games and presentation dynamics;

workshop to elaborate a collage on the importance of coeducation, co-responsibility and reconciliation carried out by the children participating in the program;

workshop on responsibilities and shared tasks in the home and family;

storytelling workshop;

theater workshop to represent coeducational stories;

video library on issues related to equality and coeducation;

sewing workshop and costumes;

recycling workshop;

feelings expression workshop;

workshop "Women in history";

craft workshops, as well as water games.

Also psychomotricity and pre-sports aimed at children from 3 to 6 years and traditional sports such as football, basketball, involving both children and girls, as well as a party end of schools.

Antonia Pérez pointed out that "these programs are essential for the reconciliation of work, family and personal life is valued as an essential strategy for the achievement of equality of women and men, also contributes to achieve a new social organization and economic, where women and men can make compatible the different areas of their lives: employment, family and leisure and personal time ".

This program is promoted by the Department of Equality of the City of Lorca and subsidized by the European Social Fund and the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia.
