The subsidy will double the number of beneficiary families and, in addition, a new concession is planned for the same amount by the end of the year.
The Councilor for Social Services of the City of Lorca, María Dolores Chumillas, visited this morning the supermarket that the Caritas oenges has in the city.
A visit that responds to the gratitude for the social service that this entity provides to more than fifty families from Lorca and for which the City Council, and before the danger of closure due to lack of funds, has granted a subsidy worth 50,000 euros
Chumillas explained that "currently, the Lorca commissary serves 59 families and has a waiting list of another 60. This grant will allow this quarter to serve another 50 families and significantly reduce the waiting list" .
The mayor of Social Services has also advanced that in the last quarter of the year another grant will be authorized for the same amount in order to "maintain the number of beneficiaries, and be able to cover the basic needs of those families that need it, a priority of This Government Team ".
Chumillas Martinez, has also requested the granting of parking permits during the opening hours of the center "to facilitate the parking of the vehicles of volunteers who, altruistically, help each week in the management of this supermarket."
The Mambré supermarket, founded by the Diocese of Cartagena in 2011 so that families affected by earthquakes and economically vulnerable could buy at very low prices, is staffed by volunteer staff who every Tuesday needs the work of, at less, 14 people to serve the public.
This solidarity supermarket offers up to 200 different food and cleaning products at 30% of its usual retail price.
