Ruíz Jódar: "We have passed a law so that no Lorca with earthquake aid has to return them due to lack of time to justify them" (24/07/2019)

The plenary session of the Regional Assembly approved this morning an amendment to Law 8/2018 of July 23 that extends until 18 months the deadline for the presentation of the justifications of the aid received by neighbors affected by the earthquakes of 2011 .

The regional deputy of the PP, Mª del Carmen Ruíz Jódar has affirmed from the parliamentary tribune that this modification promoted by the PP and registered by all the groups represented in the Assembly "constitutes a faithful reflection of the commitment and consensus that we all must maintain with the Lorca. "

The legal changes approved today grant Lorca recipients of aid to repair housing and homeowners' communities, a six-month extension to present the justifications, "a measure that will allow to respond to 1,307 families that have not yet completed their files, and if not for this, they would be forced to return the aid "said Ruíz Jódar for whom it is that" no Lorca family who received help and effectively use it in the repair or reconstruction of their home , be now unfairly committed to return it.

The regional 'popular' deputy has made a tour of the legal process that has been necessary to enable since the earthquakes occurred.

A tour "of great complexity", he said to indicate that the procedure has shown "the lack of an adequate regulatory framework to respond to these types of cases and the Regional Government has had to build new tools that allow and allow speed up the delivery of aid, its justification and follow-up "in relation to the Law on Subsidies.

He has also referred to the Law of Forced Substitution.

Ruíz Jódar has said that "in the face of catastrophes of extraordinary magnitude such as that suffered in my city that fateful May 11, citizens claim and deserve an extraordinary response from all public administrations" and has put as an example of action the law passed today unanimously "a new link in a chain that is yet to close," he said.

Likewise, he has asked the Chamber for support and union to demand from the Government of Spain "the 50% bonus of the IBI to those affected by the earthquakes, the remission of 50% of the interest corresponding to the Government of Spain of the public aid received for those affected and the agreement for the amount of 3 million euros from the central executive that Lorca is awaiting to receive the infrastructure repair works in its districts. "

As Lorca, the PP parliamentary has recalled "the enormous impact that still lingers in the collective imagination of the Lorca of that tragic afternoon. All, to a greater or lesser extent, we were affected by that catastrophe, and each person retains his own history in the wake of the earthquake, a particular epic. "
