The City of Lorca shows its condolences for the death of the Lorca doctor, Pedro Antonio Ruiz Barnés (04/08/2019)

The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has lamented the death this morning, at 73 years of age, of the doctor based in Madrid, Pedro Antonio Ruiz Barnés.

The mayor has highlighted "Ruiz Barnés who was one of the most famous Lorca of our time and also a great friend of his friends. Pedro Antonio always made homeland where he was and took the name of his city, Lorca, ahead at all times".

And he announced that "the City Council will declare three days of official mourning for his death."

A recognized neurosurgery professional

Pedro Antonio Ruiz Barnés was born in January 1946 in the San José neighborhood, where he spent his childhood and adolescence with his family.

He studied in Lorca at the Caño School and at the Ibáñez Martín Institute.

At the University of Madrid he studied the Selective of Sciences and then the medical degree that ended in 1970. He was head of the Neurosurgery Service of the Concepción Clinic in Madrid, president of the Madrid Society of Neurosurgery, as well as the Ombudsman of the Official College of Physicians of Madrid.

During his long professional career he attended countless national and international conferences and published hundreds of works in magazines and books.

He performed thousands of surgical interventions in which he always tried to incorporate the most modern techniques and devices, after an updated and continuous learning.
