The PP calls on the current central government to build the reservoir that irrigators need to store the water from the desalination plant on Cerro Colorado (03/09/2019)

Fulgencio Gil denounces that in the event of a breakdown, farmers will run out of water again, as happened last year.

No one understands how it is possible that 250 million were spent on the desalination plant and now "racan" the million euros that the reservoir costs

The Spokesman of the Popular Group in the City of Lorca, Fulgencio Gil, has held a work and project planning meeting with the Minister of Water, Agriculture and Livestock of the Autonomous Community of the Region of Murcia, Antonio Luengo, with the aim of supervise the actions that are being carried out in our municipal district by this department, as well as anticipate the solutions to the demands presented by the professionals of the sector in Lorca.

Fulgencio Gil said that one of the issues that have moved us from the primary sector with more concern is the lack of response and interest that is being shown by the current government of the nation for the construction of the storage reservoir that had to be be already building on Cerro Colorado with the objective of accumulating water from the desalination plant of Águilas, with the objective of guaranteeing the supply to the irrigators of Lorca.

We are talking about an intervention of pure common sense, which has already been transmitted to the current central government of the PSOE by municipalities, political and business organizations, as well as the Irrigation Community itself, with the support of companies and cooperatives in the sector primary.

What nobody understands is that after spending 250 million euros in the desalination plant, now "racan" the one million that approximately costs this reservoir.

It is not logical that at this point we have to be talking about this matter, since they had to have solved it before.

The desalinated water reservoir that farmers need has between 500,000 and 1 million cubic meters.

We must remember that the City of Lorca itself, at the request of the Popular Party, approved in July last year that the drought decree for our basin, which is still extended today, contemplated this action as a priority and urgent work, collecting and transferring the restlessness of the professionals of the field of our region.

The PSOE, as usual, "happened" to Lorca, as it has done with almost all projects and investments that Lorca need.

Unfortunately, the irrigators already have the experience of having suffered a total shortage last year due to a breakdown in the plant, which they had to face, contributing their own solutions to the Ministry's ineffectiveness.

The reality is that the current national government has made us all lose a year, and today, we are back in them: as soon as the desalination plant has an impact, there will be no water.

Fulgencio Gil has transferred to the counselor the need to continue advancing in the investments that are being executed by the Autonomous Community in the area of sanitation, purification and reuse of water, and that have the most outstanding example of the collector that serves the Saprelorca industrial estate, which will derive water to the La Hoya treatment plant through the Rambla de Biznaga.

The first phase of this work is currently underway, which involves an investment of 3 million euros.

The work meeting also counted with the participation of the regional deputy for the PP, María del Carmen Ruiz, and with the Councilor for Agriculture and Water of the Popular Party in the City of Lorca, Angel Meca.
