The Municipal Emergency Service closes the 2019 Copla Plan with a very positive balance in the number of interventions carried out this summer in Punta de Calnegre (04/09/2019)

Started from June 22 until September 1, the assistance decreases despite the considerable increase in the number of visitors to the beaches of Lorca.

The Councilor for Emergency of the City of Lorca, Isabel Casalduero, has taken stock this morning of the interventions made this summer by the members of the Municipal Emergency Service on the beaches of Lorca through the Copla Plan developed from June 22 to 1 September.

Casalduero has highlighted "the virtually identical maintenance of the number of assists made on the beaches of the municipality of Lorca during 2019 since, with respect to the previous year, it has dropped from 186 in 2018 to 184 in 2019 taking into account, in addition that if there has been a considerable increase in the number of bathers so I would like to highlight the great prevention work carried out by the first responders as well as the awareness campaigns that from this council and through social networks we are carrying out , and of course, also thank the citizen collaboration of bathers and visitors respecting the state of the flags as well as the indications of the lifeguards. "

The Councilor has broken down "the interventions carried out in Cala de Calnegre by our lifeguards who have been motivated mainly by about a hundred bites of marine animals as well as 10 assists to people with reduced mobility. While on the beach of Puntas de Calnegre these interventions have been motivated by a dozen bites of marine animals, a score of cures for wounds, three assists for syncope with loss of consciousness, 4 assists for people with reduced mobility and an assistance to ship stranded. "

"As for the rescue and rescue of people during this period of time, there have only been two rescues, both of children 10 and 9 years old who, when trying to get out of the water, saw how the currents dragged them into the sea, the lifeguards to observe Children were in difficulties to reach the shore, they threw themselves into the water and provided them with the necessary assistance to be able to go to the shore, avoiding greater consequences, without the need to provide health care, "announced the Edil.

Casalduero Jódar has detailed "the composition of the municipal emergency device established on the beaches of the Lorca coast by the Department of Emergencies on the occasion of the Plan COPLA, which has been formed by 3 lifeguards in the Cala de Calnegre, which this year revalidated its blue flag , 3 in the town of Puntas de Calnegre and one more carrying out mobile surveillance by the coves with a 4x4, as a complement to maritime surveillance, plus an SMS Basic Life Support ambulance. "

As in previous years, said the Councilor, "there has been a First Aid, Surveillance and Rescue post in Cala de Calnegre, consisting of a watchtower, with assistance module and an amphibious chair for people with reduced mobility. On the other hand , at the beach of Puntas de Calnegre there has been a fixed First Aid, Surveillance and Rescue post, as well as a watchtower and an amphibious chair for people with reduced mobility. "

"This year, as an extension of the deployment of material means, a new jet ski was incorporated with elements to facilitate rescue and rescue work on beaches, such as the intelligent braking and reverse system that allows iBR to stop it almost instantly, the improved maneuverability in directional control, the equipment with a rescue stretcher for the transfer of the injured or the inclusion of life jackets and helmets that allows to attend any rescue situation that occurs on our coast, "reported the Casalduero.

The Councilor has shown that "to develop this Copla Plan, a comprehensive emergency care device has been established to offer an immediate, effective and coordinated response to any emergency situation in the coastal strip that runs from the beach of Parazuelos, in the limit of Mazarrón, to the beach of La Galera with the municipality of Águilas and that, during this season, has allowed the deployment of the necessary professional human resources and materials that allow the implementation of surveillance, rescue and daily rescue services from 11.00 am until 8.00 pm uninterruptedly. "

Casalduero Jódar has also taken stock of the large number of days during which he has waved the green flag "and it is that during this period of time on the beaches of Lorca the state of the sea has been yellow flag for 13 days at the Beach of Puntas de Calnegre and 16 days in the Cala de Calnegre, red flag with prohibition of bathing for 11 days in the Beach of Puntas de Calnegre, and on only one occasion in the Cala de Calnegre and the rest of the days waved the flag green, 51 days in Punta de Calnegre and 57.5 days in Cala de Calnegre ".

The Edil wanted to highlight "the enormous work carried out by the personnel that make up our Municipal Emergency Service that also demonstrate their professionalism day after day as demonstrated in the recent episode of torrential rains in both Ramonete and Punta de Calnegre or the fantastic initiatives and activities carried out as is the case of 'Lifeguards for a day' in which boys and girls could enjoy a fun day of acting learning in emergency situations ".

Casalduero has thanked "the work carried out during the summer months by the Municipal Emergency and Civil Protection Service in relation to the Copla Plan and the coordination with the General Directorate of Public Safety and Emergencies of the Regional Government Presidency Department."
