López Miras meets with the mayor of Lorca (30/09/2019)

The president of the Community, Fernando López Miras, received today in the Palace of San Esteban the mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, with whom he agreed to “work hand in hand so that the municipality and the entire region of Guadalentín move forward and continue to grow as they have been doing for a few years, â€said the Minister of Presidency and Finance, Javier Celdrán, at the end of the meeting.

The counselor explained that "one of the central themes of the meeting has been the field of infrastructure and also of health."

In this regard, he highlighted the works of the Central Round that will vertebra the city and will absorb the traffic of 20,000 vehicles.

Regarding the health field, he stressed that it is “one of the areas in which more efforts are being madeâ€.

Likewise, Celdrán referred to the project to recover the Historic Center of Lorca as a “project for the reconversion and revitalization of commercial, social, urban and cultural development of one of the most important historical sites in the cityâ€.

In this regard, he stressed that "the regional government works with the City of Lorca and the Regional Confederation of Business Organizations of Lorca (Ceclor) to make it a reality."

The Minister of the Presidency and the Treasury also referred to “a fair demand shared between regional government and city councils so that there is an adequate local financing systemâ€.

In this sense, he referred to the "punishment" that the current regional financing model for the Region of Murcia supposes, "since we are the worst financed together with the Valencian Community, which undermines our possibilities."

And he stressed that "if we do not receive the income of the State that corresponds to us, we will hardly be able to put in place mechanisms that allow progress in other areas."

In addition, Celdrán referred to aid for those affected by the DANA two weeks ago and said that “the first thing is to claim the central government to keep his word and cover 100 percent of the damage, but, if not , the Autonomous Community, of course, will launch all the necessary springs so as not to leave any municipality thrown away â€.

He also stressed that "we are already working in a funding search scenario without this entailing jeopardizing the ministry's requirements regarding the budgetary stability of the Community."
