The Virgin of the Aurora will release a throne of three steps during the procession that will take place next Saturday, October 5 (04/10/2019)

The students of the Carpentry and Locksmith workshops and those of the Specialization Course in the field of restoration of wooden elements, organized by the Department of Local Development, have been responsible for creating this throne for the Brotherhood of Auroros de Lorca.

The Mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, together with the Councilors of Culture and Local Development of the City of Lorca, María Ángeles Mazuecos and Isabel Casalduero, and the president of the Brotherhood of Auroros de Lorca, Sebastián Molina, have presented the throne made for The Virgin of the Aurora.

Mateos explained that "the throne has been carried out by the students of the developed training-employment programs, the Department of Local Development and all work has been carried out at the facilities of the Municipal Training Center of" La Torrecilla " , with the participation of the Carpentry Workshop, the Locksmith Workshop and as a training practice of the "Specialization course in the field of wood elements restoration", in the Restoration Workshop ".

The mayor of Lorca has detailed that "the work has consisted of the execution of a throne with three steps for the Brotherhood of Our Lady of the Aurora, made of carved wood and finished with gold leaf and polychromy, with maximum dimensions of 156x156x60 centimeters and a removable structure has also been made to rest with the Virgin during the tour ".

Mateos Molina has highlighted "the carvings made on the throne, in the Baroque style, where the acanthus leaves take on great importance, as well as the four posters in which the shield of the Brotherhood of the Aurora appears on the front, the shield of the city ​​of Lorca in the back and the shield of the Poor Clares and San Patricio in the lateral ones ".

The First Edil informed of the process of execution of the throne of Our Lady of the Aurora that "has consisted of the design of the throne in collaboration with the carpentry and restoration workshops; the construction of the structure of pine and phenolic board; the realization of the pine wood moldings, as well as the throne assembly. Subsequently, the carving of the ornamental elements and the realization of the wood rods has also been carried out. "

As for the works of gold and polychromy "they have consisted of the entelado of the boards; the application of rigging with natural glues and calcium sulfate; the polishing of surfaces; the application of a bowl of gold; the application of gold and silver to the water with German gold leaf, the burnishing of gilded with agates and the final patinated with oil paintings, and, as for the painting works, the painting of the backgrounds and the polychrome shields has been carried out, as well as the final lacquer both of the rods of the throne as of the golden pieces, "said Mateos.
