The morning of Thursday, October 10 was very emotional and endearing, in the 'Casa del Deporte' dozens of adults came to the awards of Games and 3rd Age, activity framed within the Guadalentín Sports Games.
From September 16 to 24 in all the senior centers of the municipality of Lorca, 320 older people have been participating in an internal phase, in games such as Parcheesi, Brisca, male and female boules, Remigio, billiards, caliche, dominoes, 'auction', cheers, checkers, chess, and tute 'drag'.
The winners of these modalities, in their centers competed later, from September 27 to October 8 completing an inter-center phase that decided the winners in each activity.
The participation of the elderly in the Guadalentín Sports Games is essential, and they have more than proven their involvement, exceeding 300, a record figure, and a clear example of commitment.
In the awards ceremony that took place at 11.00 am there was joy, and they were all very proud of their classification and this activity that makes twinning with people from other centers and that for them is very necessary.
Many were the people who commented on the benefits of these activities and the good they did for all of them, and on the insistence that they continue to be done over time, and that they never get lost.
The delivery of medals in each modality was made by the Councilor for Sports, Irene Jódar and the Councilor for Social and Senior Services, María dolores Chumillas.
During these weeks the good tuning of technicians of the Department of Sports and the coordinator of this activity in the Games, José García Segura Sáez has been indispensable for the proper functioning of this number of games that have made more than 300 people so happy.
