Lorca will commemorate the 'International Day of Rural Women', this coming Saturday (16/10/2019)

Among the activities, the presentation 'Building bridges and weaving networks among women' by Gloria Alarcón, second vice president of the Regional Assembly, Doctor of Law, Professor of Applied Economics at UMU and Master in Gender and Equality.

The Councilor for Equality of the City of Lorca, Antonia Pérez, together with the president of the Federation of Women's Organizations of Lorca, Pilar Fernández, has presented the International Day of Rural Women.

Pérez explained that "while in previous years this coexistence has been celebrated in the districts of Rio, Aguaderas and Marchena, this year it will be held in the Hermitage of the Sacristan in the district of Aguaderas, this next Saturday, October 19" .

The mayor has detailed that "the programming of the activities will begin at 10:30 am with the welcome of all attendees, in charge of the Association of Women of Aguaderas, which will offer a breakfast of chocolate and donuts, as well as the performance of different crews: At 11:00 hours the presentation 'Building bridges and weaving networks among women' will begin by Gloria Alarcón, second vice president of the Regional Assembly, Doctor in Law, Professor of Applied Economics at UMU and Master in Gender e Equality: Next, Francisco Parra and Teresa Cano, members of the Arco Lorca Club will talk about the 'Pink Arrows Project' and Enrique Olcina, member of the Lorca Rugby Club will do it about the 'Values ​​in Rugby'.

Antonia Pérez has presented the different workshops "that will begin at 12 in the morning, the Stone Carving Workshop, taught by Francisca Molina, the Pottery Demonstration Workshop around potter and decorated by hand pieces by Martín Lario and María Laura Vallejo, the workshop for the elaboration of natural oils for massages, taught by Micaela Romero, agent of Rural Development and Development Cooperation of the CEPAIM Foundation, and another of craftsmanship by Carmen Jiménez García, teacher of craft of the FOM Lorca ".

A lunch stop will be made at 2 pm and at 4:30 pm a gift will be given to all participating associations in recognition of their participation.

From 17 hours will take place the Risoterapia Workshop 'Love at first laugh' by Paula Vilar López and the day will be closed at 19 hours.

The Councilor for Equality has shown that "with the celebration of this International Day of Rural Women we highlight the importance they have in the development of agriculture and rural areas; while women can exchange their experiences and enjoy of a day of living together ".

Pérez Segura stressed that "the International Day of Rural Women has been officially established by the General Assembly of the United Nations every October 15 and, therefore, from the Department of Equality of the City of Lorca and the Federation of Women's Organizations de Lorca has organized this commemorative coexistence, in which a multitude of Women's Associations will participate with the city. "
