The mayor of Lorca, Diego José Mateos, has visited the asphalting tasks known as the Azagahor road, in the Torrecilla county council.

A work that stands out for the type of asphalt as it implies a commitment to the environment as well as the occupational safety of workers.

Mateos explained that "the resurfacing works that are being carried out on the Azagahor road are a novel execution since it is a type of asphalt that allows it to be worked at 20-40 degrees Celsius less than the usual temperature with which it is committed to a wide environmental improvement thanks to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions, as well as the increase in workers' occupational safety, especially in summer, which during high-speed work can withstand very high temperatures that can even cause heat stroke. "

The First Edil detailed that "the road is being paved with semi-foamed asphaltic mixture that has as characteristic the manufacture of the mixture with a temperature below the conventional of 170 ° C to 130 ° C, decreasing between 20 and 40 ° C the temperature usual manufacturing and, in addition, for the work has been taken into account the milling of access to the homes of neighbors ".

Mateos Molina has taken stock of the performance and is that "it means a reduction in CO2 emissions due to the reduction in manufacturing temperature, which implies a significant fuel improvement saving of one kilo per ton manufactured from mixing. And which also improves its technical characteristics in terms of optimization of handling and extended as it decreases the time required for opening to traffic and reduces oxidation and consequently aging of bitumen, which improves its characteristics throughout the asphalt time and durability. "

The Mayor has announced that "a work plan for the conservation of the multitude of rural roads that run through a large municipal area of Lorca begins with the challenge of environmental improvement, quality and working conditions of workers. initiative that from the City of Lorca we support and will continue betting on projects of this type because the care of the environment is a maxim of this Government Team as well as the safety of our workers ".
