The popular advocate for opening a new line of work in the field of tourism, following the example that other areas of our country have already successfully undertaken, and which have managed to attract productions of the size of Game of Thrones and Terminator.

The Councilor for Tourism and Commerce in the City of Lorca for the Popular Party, Francisco Javier Martínez, has proposed the launch of a new Tourism and Cultural Promotion Service with the specific objective of promoting the potential and resources of the audiovisual sector our wide and diverse municipal term as an ideal place for filmmaking.

Francisco Javier Martínez has explained that we are talking about an alternative that is already being disseminated in numerous enclaves of our country, and that has been revealed as a new niche of cultural and tourist promotion of the places that are chosen.

In fact, Spain has very prominent examples for this purpose, which have led to the filming of several episodes of emblematic series of international renown, such as the Game of Thrones, in various parts of Andalusia, or the most recent and closest, in our own Autonomous Community, as it has been a few months ago the recording of part of the American blockbuster "Terminator: Dark Destination" in Cartagena, Huesca, Navarra, Almeria, Madrid, Seville, Bilbao, Cádiz and Cantabria

From the PP they have pointed out that it is unquestionable that our broad municipal term, the second largest in Spain, offers all kinds of scenarios within the same city.

We have great contrasts, from arid areas, through the forests of the Gigante and the Sierra de Pedro Ponce, to our virgin beaches and historical monuments that, thanks to the unwavering support of our Regional President, Fernando López Miras, we are being able to rehabilitate the serious damage caused by the earthquakes of 2011.

Francisco Javier Martínez has stressed that in this regard, we support the demands of professionals in the audiovisual sector of our country, which also require a better taxation and less bureaucracy from the Central Government to attract international projects.

In the case of Lorca, the Lorca Scenario project also offers us the possibility of highlighting the high level of training and the quality of audiovisual and film technicians, as well as the aforementioned variety of locations, human resources and natural that act as a magnet for the arrival of these productions.

This is a proposal that we make available to our city, and which we propose constructively, as a new line of work in tourism.

We are not talking about an initiative that generates more spending, but quite the opposite, it would be enough to channel the municipal resources already available, and we could start with the creation of a web platform.

It should be remembered that Lorca has hosted years ago, among others, the filming of films such as "Malena is not a name of Tango" (Gerardo Herrero), "The kiss of Judas" (by Rafael Gil), and "The promised hell" (from Chumilla Carbajosa).
