The City Council tentatively awarded the drafting of the excavation and restoration of the church of San Juan Municipal Technology (23/02/2016)

The Ministry of Culture has awarded a grant of 72,600 euros for topographic and volumetric 3D geotechnical study, basic and execution project, archaeological work and essays on lime, mortar, plaster and wall paintings, in addition to the safety study and health.

The government spokesman of the City of Lorca, Belén Pérez, has reported that "the recovery and value as building municipal use of the church of San Juan is closer every day, to do the Local Government has approved the requirement prior to the final at the lowest bid contract drafting for recovery and enhancement of this temple and its surroundings as a result of damage caused by earthquakes, to be held within 2 award documentation months, together with the management and coordination of the preliminary proceedings archaeological worth 18,150 euros ".

Pérez explained that "this development is done by a grant of 72,600 euros granted by the Ministry of Culture, within the planned investments in the Director of Heritage Recovery Plan after the earthquake of 2011, to implement the blueprint and implementation, archaeological work and tests on lime, mortar, plaster and wall paintings, surveying and 3D volumes, the geotechnical study and the study of health and safety required for this process of comprehensive rehabilitation. "

Belen Perez has stated that "upon completion of these phases the City Council and the Regional Government intend to present the rehabilitation project to the call for aid of 1.5% culture that the Central Government allocates to the recovery of assets."

The building is built with masonry walls and brickwork.
