Councilman Information Society in the City of Lorca, Juan Francisco Martinez, reported that the city council approved unanimously by all political groups with plenary representation, seek accession to the Spanish Network of Smart Cities.

We are talking about an association of which are currently part 65 municipalities of municipality with more than 50,000 inhabitants which aims cooperation around innovation actions to promote the intelligent management of resources to make life easier citizens, achieve a more united and cohesive society, as well as generate and attract human talent and create a new economic fabric of high added value.

Martinez Carrasco explained that this is to provide experience and we are already developing projects in Lorca as smart city and know the other municipalities to further improve the quality of life of citizens thanks to innovations in technology.

Practical examples include the following:

Transport: meet through applications for mobile, Tablet PC and the actual position of closest to your location bus.

Energy Efficiency: activate artificial lighting and watering only in case where necessary due to weather conditions and not by timing.

Parking: free by mobile applications, tablet and computer what surface parking spaces are occupied, free and what kind are blue, green area, normal area, loading and unloading, disabled ...

Waste management: performing selective collection only if the amount of accumulated residue exceeds certain limits in the containers.

Tourism and Heritage meet through applications for mobile, tablet and computer features and history of the heritage of Lorca.

Citizen Card: centralized management of access to cultural and sports facilities.

Councilman Information Society has anticipated that being part of the RECI will allow us to enrich the "Lorca Smart Social City" Master Plan in which we are already working with local technicians, a master plan will be, once the roadmap around that intelligent management of resources for the next few years Lorca is finished.

We are facing a historic opportunity in the European environment for grants and resources and Lorca is not going to be left behind, in fact RECI itself is the major mechanism of access to grants.
