Regret that Lorca continue hosting circuses with animals (02/03/2016)

The last full Consistory Lorca has refused to join the long list of Spanish towns that have been declared free of circuses with animals with the votes against the Popular Party and Citizens and the abstention of the PSOE.

Ecologists in Action understands that, except IU-Greens presented its proposal, the other groups support and encourage abuse and unjustified cruelty allowing the installation of these circus companies in the town.

Among other arguments by calling for the amendment of the municipal regulations, state that in circuses and other shows still using wild animals in captivity, removal of claws and teeth are made;

the animals are subjected to cruel workouts based on physical abuse including restriction of food and water, sticks, all kinds of beatings to get an animal to perform or adopt an unnatural figure;

They spend most of his life tied up or locked in cages, where they can barely turn around when most of these wild animals can usually run through tens of kilometers a day.

Also many of them have been taken from the wild, replacing their way of life in freedom and according to their species, captivity and an unnatural way of life.

They point out that the public of these shows in their great majority, are children who are unaware of the abuses that exist behind these types of circuses.

While attracted to observe these animals live, the adult must be aware of the suffering that these shows involve and in any case it is the responsibility of government to ensure that certain shows not exist.

For that reason, the environmental organization reports that facing no opposition from some municipalities, because there are already several in the region that have been declared free of animal circuses, work will continue on information and awareness campaigns until in the near future neighbors say enough and force their politicians to not allow this unwarranted abuse.
