The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Francisco Barnabas, said today that it has completed the process of accession to the reconstruction project in the neighborhood of San Fernando de Lorca, whose houses had to be demolished as a result of the severe damage recorded in its structure, the incorporation of the City of Lorca.

Once the expropriation procedure soil of homes that were pending concluded, we proceeded to the signing of accession by the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, president of the homeowners in the neighborhood of San Fernando, Fernando Roldan, and the representative of the company responsible for implementing the project of rebuilding.

"This is a new step in the way of renovation and reconstruction of urban space in San Fernando, which is behind a lesson in overcoming hundreds of families," said Francisco Barnabas.

The Minister said that the recovery of the neighborhood "has no going back, because it is a work in which the regional and local authorities work together with the owners to ensure their full recovery."

Barnabas recalled that the regional government is directly involved in this project to rebuild 232 homes demolished, to hold ten of them and two commercial premises, which implies some financial obligations of approximately 1.2 million euros.

Urban renewal project

The head of the Ministry of Development said the San Fernando "will become a reality over the next few months," adding that in the near future the Department will invite bids for urban renewal project in the neighborhood to complete the full recovery of space.

Action will be taken in the renovation of infrastructure of roads, paving roads and sidewalks, street lighting, provision of parks and gardens and the sanitation of the distribution networks of water, electricity, gas, sanitation and rainwater drainage and in telephone networks.

This action, which will be held in coordination with the reconstruction of the nine blocks of houses in the neighborhood, have a budget of 2.6 million euros and an execution period of 12 months.
