The Mayor of Lorca opens remodeled Park Island (09/03/2016)

Francisco Jodar has visited this enhanced green area, in which 87,208 euros have been invested, through which the Department of Works has also included new tree pits and a new parterre this morning.

The Mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, accompanied by the Department of Employment, Works, Parks and Gardens of the City of Lorca, Eulalia Ibarra, inaugurated the recently completed reform of Island Park, located at the confluence of the Alameda de Cervantes Alameda Rafael Mendez, and which have invested a total of 87,208.81 euros, of which 75,000 are from the Regional Government and the rest is municipal contribution.

Jodar explained that "in response to neighborhood demands, and always after a participatory process, has expanded the previous installation, improving their access and making it a better space available to the neighbors."

Specifically, the works, executed by a company Lorca, have filled depressed areas to adapt to the slope of the park path structure so that it was all at the same level.

The mayor stressed that "likewise, has replaced the existing pavement at the entrance since it was badly damaged. But what stands out is the equipment, which will make the park a place of contact between neighbors, at the same time that the sport is encouraged. "

On the one hand, one of the areas now has elements for youth games like ping-pong tables for chess and ludo games and a mini football pitch fenced tennis and basketball goal.

The other area is conditioned with two bocce courts, as well as gerontological games for older use them and can enjoy the benefits of sport for a healthy lifestyle.

It has also introduced a new parterre and cork trees have been planted several existing landscaping to improve and make it a greener area.

The mayor stressed that "this is a facility which can enjoy both children and adults, as it is perfectly equipped for both the former for others.
