Presidency to the City of Lorca provides a software tool that will help you plan your investments (12/04/2016)

The Minister Maria Dolores Pagán explains that this action is part of the "municipal vocation" regional government

The city of Lorca has today with the 'Survey of infrastructure and local facilities', a new software tool that is launched through an agreement between the Ministry of the Presidency and the City Council and will help improve the investment planning of public services in the municipality.

The Minister Maria Dolores Pagán and the mayor of Lorca, Francisco Jodar, signed the agreement, which falls, as stated in the "municipal vocation regional government".

The Survey is an inventory 'geodiferenciado' to find out the situation of road infrastructure, water supply, sanitation and treatment;

Street lighting;

and equipment, among others.

"This is a free service for the Consistory because the community takes care of the servers, database, programs, plus training and maintenance," Pagan said.

Thus, the Ministry makes available to the municipality this tool and provides local technical training required for incorporating the data, and also provides technical support for implementation and maintenance.

The Minister of Presidency indicated that Lorca is the first municipality with large population that adheres to this agreement, because only municipalities with less than 50,000 inhabitants were required to do.

Pagan said that "the will of the regional government is to extend to Molina de Segura, Murcia and Cartagena that can benefit from this type of application, so you can have complete and updated information throughout the region".

Lorca's accession to this system that coordinates the Directorate General of Local Government, the Survey will contain information 85.74 percent of the surface of the region of Murcia and 50 percent of its population.

Currently the number of records Survey without incorporating Lorca- rises to 355,629, and 6,732,688 are the total data available.

Maria Dolores Pagan explained that, thanks to this application, the City will have "both quantitatively and qualitatively valuable information because it gets systematized, accurate and current information infrastructure and equipment data."

Being a collaborative system between administrations each entity incorporates its own information.

The City Council, as the other departments of the Community, it provides you with a user name and password so you can remotely access the computer platform and load information within its competence.

The Minister stressed that this collaborative system allows "we move forward in streamlining public services", allowing a significant reduction in costs by leveraging available resources.

This, he added, "duplication of information is avoided and, therefore, improves the efficiency and transparency of public services".

This software application is based on a geographic information system and is part of an inventory of national, census character, which is made with a common methodology for the provincial councils, in collaboration with the Ministry of Public Administration.

Annually the municipalities adhered to this agreement send an update of the Survey MOFTEC.
